Towards the e-Government
I just came back from the Conference of Government’s CIOs. It was held in PICC, Putrajaya. During this event, all the Chief Information Officers (CIO) from all departments in the public sector took part in order to achieve the conference’s target: to improve and increase the awareness among the public sector CIOs on the current ICT development. It was a two-day event and also some exhibition taken part by public and private sectors. It was launched by Tan Sri Mohd. Sidek Hasan, KSN.
What interests me the most is that, majority of us didn’t realize that our government is actually improving its ICT skills in developing more and more services directly from the web. Sooner or later we no longer need to take our time at the counter. Is it like Maybank2u or CIMB clicks? Exactly! I didn’t realized that now we could check out summons online by just entering our I.C number. Other then that, many services which involving retirement plan, health which offers by the government can be checked online.
The system is already there. All they need to do is market them to the public or end user. Even me myself didn’t know certain services offer by the government department could be reached online! I listed some of the services below:

Take note this are SOME of the main government agencies who already implement the online services. How about those agencies that covers other aspect like education, health, agriculture, sport or many others? More and more promotions and marketing should be added in order to make the public aware. Thus, it will increase the usage of this online services. I believe with this conference these government services will be available online. So what now? You can start online of course!
